ROOTED IN STORY. GROUNDED IN COMMUNITY. COMMITTED TO CHANGE.
About Cedar + Scrubs

Hi, my name is Chyna Steele.

I am a Cree woman from Bigstone Cree Nation, a physician-in-training, speaker, writer, and advocate passionate about Indigenous health, education, and reconciliation.

Cedar + Scrubs was created from a simple belief: stories have the power to heal, educate, and create change.

Growing up in Northern Alberta, I witnessed both the strength of Indigenous communities and the barriers many people continue to face in health care, education, and opportunity. Those experiences shaped my journey into medicine and continue to influence the work I do today.

As I moved through university, medical school, leadership roles, and community advocacy, I often found myself searching for spaces where Indigenous voices, lived experiences, and healthcare conversations could exist together.

When I couldn't find that space, I decided to create it.
